Watching Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle tie the knot on Saturday 19th May gave me all of the feels.
I mean, how beautiful was the church? The vows? The music?
Sure, it was all the fine details that came together to truly make the wedding the wonderful event it was. However, as a self-professed style maven, there was just one thing I was majorly interested in.
That’s right – it was the fashion.
In fact, from the beautiful attire of some of the female guests to the bride’s standout dress, there are a few style tips that we can all take from the royal wedding.
1. Keep It Simple
Royal wedding style tips 101: a simple dress oozes sophistication. Especially if you’re just about to become a princess.
Could Meghan Markle have looked any more chic as a future royal? A lot of people expected her to go down the traditional celebrity-style wedding dress route. And by this, I mean that people expected tons of glitz and glamour reminiscent of something that the Kardashians might wear.
However, Meghan chose to completely surprise those people and instead opt for a Givenchy gown that was just as minimalistic as it was elegant. The bateau neckline was the key point of focus, and then she let her diamond jewellery and that tiara stand out and do the talking.
And boy, did it have a lot to say.

2. Sunshine Yellow is Always a Winner
Let’s just talk about Amal Clooney for a second.
I mean, how amazing did she look? My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I saw her stunning yellow Stella McCartney frock complete with matching hat.
It just shows that you can’t beat a co-ord as a wedding guest. Especially if it’s sunshine yellow and epitomises the spring/summer months. Amal, I applaud you!

3. Florals Are Fabulous for Spring
Sure, fashionistas worldwide are already aware of the power of the floral print for spring. However, this was confirmed when some of the royal wedding celebrity guests decided to wear them in abundance.
For instance, did you see actress Carey Mulligan? She looked summery yet stylish in a yellow and pink Erdem number. Similarly, Pippa Middleton stood out by a mile in her mint green and taupe floral frock from The Fold.
Well done, ladies. Collectively, you proved that floral prints are always fabulous.

4. Sometimes Less is More
Another royal wedding style tip came from the bride herself.… in the beauty sense. (Who says that you have to be caked in makeup on your wedding day?)
In this current age of contouring and piling on high definition makeup, it was so refreshing to see Meghan embrace her natural beauty and opt for a subtle and understated face on her big day.
She went rather glam with her eyes (false eyelashes, I see you) but her actual face was rather stripped back. In fact, it was so stripped back, you could see every one of her freckles on the TV screen. Girl, you’re gorgeous.

5. The Best Fashion Accessory You Can Wear is a Smile
Lastly, Meghan couldn’t stop smiling when her and Harry were saying their vows. As a result, her whole face lit up, which made her even more attractive (if that’s even possible!).
This just proves that a smile is the perfect finishing touch to any outfit. And if you look happy and comfortable in your skin, this will shine on the outside.
A Royal Wedding to Remember
Whether you tuned into the royal wedding or not, you can’t deny the loveliness of some of the fashion. It wasn’t just the women who were rocking it, either; the men also looked rather dapper!
Even though I loved seeing what everybody was wearing, the style of the attendees wasn’t really the be-all and end-all of the day.
Rather, the most important part was watching two people, who were clearly so very much in love, become husband and wife and vow to spend the rest of their lives together.
Bring on the next royal wedding!
