10 Reasons to Catch Flights Not Feelings

Sometimes in life, we just need to get away.

We need to flee a negative situation, whether it’s a broken heart, toxic friendship or being stuck in a rut.

And hopping on a plane is often the remedy.

Why? Well, people often say that travel is the best escape from everyday life. And being someone who has ventured near and far in the last few years, I totally get their point.

After all, there’s nothing like the allure of a new place and new people to make you feel like you’re starting a new chapter.

That said, let’s explore the reasons why you might want a change and catch flights not feelings.

1. Travel Broadens the Mind

Catch flights not feelings 101: when you’re away in a different setting with alternative surroundings, there’s no quicker way for you to forget about everything that you left behind.

Sure, this is mainly because you’re thousands of miles away from home.

However, it’s also because there’s no faster way to gain perspective when you break away from a situation and, more specifically, a place.

It provides you with an amazing sense of clarity and the ability to get your thinking straight once and for all.

And this can be an extremely positive thing.

2. New Places Are Good Distractions

Spoiler alert: it’s almost impossible to spend hours thinking about everything that you once knew while you’re experiencing fresh and exciting things.

It’s important to process and heal from situations in the past. But it’s also important to be able to forget about them and move on.

That’s where travelling comes in. The incredible new experiences you have on a daily basis can focus your mind to the present so you don’t keep looking back.

3. Out of Sight, Out of Mind

Yes, that’s right – I said it. You just can’t beat this good old saying.

The best way to get over a bad situation? Not be in it anymore, or have to keep being in a place that reminds you of what you’ve been through.

Sometimes, the further you are away from home, the better it is for you. After all, there’s a whole world out there for you to explore and fall in love with.

4. Travel Forces You to Leave Your Comfort Zone

When you travel, you’re often faced with situations that don’t just scare you, they absolutely TERRIFY you.

But this is actually a wonderful thing.

Not only does it show you that you’re capable of doing them, but it also shows you that they’re nowhere near as scary as you thought they were going to be.

And you know what? It’s at the end of your comfort zone where life truly begins.

5. New Places Create New Opportunities

Another reason why you should catch flights not feelings? The physical distance and the perspective that you obtain from travelling helps you to decide what it is that you truly want from life.

Whether it’s a new place to live, a new partner or a new career, the sky’s the limit! Right?

And once you’ve made up your mind, you’ll have the confidence to go after it because *duh* you’re now fearless.

Catch Flights, Not Feelings

6. It’s Not Running Away, It’s Doing What’s Best for You

I can see why some people might think that travelling equals running away.

However, in all honesty, travelling is really brave. And unless you’ve actually done it yourself, you won’t fully understand it.

It’s about leaving everything and everyone you know in the hopes that you can create a better life for yourself. It’s about refusing to live an ordinary life.

And it’s about embracing every moment you’re on this beautiful planet.

7. You Meet People Who Make You Feel Worthwhile Again

Whether it’s friends or romantic prospects, travelling enables you to meet an abundance of new people. These are people who you never imagined you’d meet, people with big hearts and people who treat you the way you deserve to be treated.

Slowly but surely, piece by piece, these people will help put you back together again.

As a result, your bad situation at home will leave your heart – and your mind – forever.

8. “I Really Regret Travelling,” Said No One Ever

If you have the opportunity to travel and catch flights not feelings, take it while you can!

If it doesn’t work out for you, you can always fly straight back home. And, if it does, just think of all the stories you’ll be able to tell your grandkids.

And all the memories you’ll have when you’re sat in your rocking chair at 80 years old!

(I mean, you’ll be the coolest grandparent EVER.)

9. It Makes You More Carefree

There’s something about travelling that makes you completely forget about home after a while, as well as the person you once was, because you’ve now evolved into a better person.

I know – it sounds corny, right? But it’s so true.

Plus, there are so many things that can go wrong all at one time when you’re travelling, so you quickly learn how to just go with the flow.

You become a more laid-back, well-rounded, positive person, and that’s the kind of person that everyone wants to be around. Fact.

10. You Only Live Once

And the final reason why you should catch flights not feelings? Well, you might as well move around while you’re young and physically able, right?

After all, what have you got to lose?

You never know what the future holds, therefore, you should grab life with both hands while you can.

Catch Flights, Not Feelings

The Takeaway

Don’t keep doing the same things and expect different results.

If you’re unhappy and you need to get out of a bad situation, make the change. Do something different. Catch flights not feelings.

After all, you only regret the opportunities that you didn’t take in life.

Have you ever decided to catch flights not feelings? What happened? Let me know in the comments below!

YAY FOR REPEAT FASHION. 🙌🏻 You might have n YAY FOR REPEAT FASHION. 🙌🏻 You might have noticed on my feed that I’m a big fan of re-wearing and getting the most out of my clothes. Sure, fast fashion is affordable and enticing, but not exactly environmentally-friendly (or often ethical). Instead, I champion sustainable style! Why? Well: - It’s better quality
- It’s kind to the planet
- It saves money
- It saves packing space when you’re going on a trip 🧳💪🏻 Read more about how you can be more sustainable with fashion in 2021 by visiting www.trendytourist.co.uk (link in bio). 💕 P.S. Doesn’t Christmas feel like it was ages ago?! #sustainablestyle #sustainableclothing
WEDDING DETAILS. 💁🏼‍♀️ Haven’t got WEDDING DETAILS. 💁🏼‍♀️ Haven’t got all the photos back yet but our ceremony photographer @julia_roy_photos was kind enough to send through a sneak-peek! 😄 The whole look I was going for was “romantic elegance” with some boho touches to tie in with the beach setting. Hence, the beautiful flowers with blush pink accents and soft ivory draping that juxtaposed the rustic textures of the bamboo arbour, aisle lanterns and co-ordinating seashells. Thank you @bigdaykw for helping bring my vision to life! What do you think? I’ll share hair and makeup details next. 👰‍♀️ (Disclaimer: not an ad, just grateful!)

OVERLOOKING (AND WEARING) NATURE. 🌊🌸 Just b OVERLOOKING (AND WEARING) NATURE. 🌊🌸 Just because there are dark clouds on the horizon doesn’t mean there isn’t beauty to be found all around you. Have faith. Trust the universe. It won’t be long until blue skies are revealed and the sun shines out the clearer. 🌞 On a side note, I live in strappy tops, linen shorts and flip flops when I’m in a warm climate. (Or short, loose-fitting skirts and dresses!) What about you? Do you like comfy summer style too? 💕 #travelfashion #travelstyle
WALKING INTO 2021. ...Out of the frying pan and i WALKING INTO 2021. ...Out of the frying pan and into the fire! 🔥 Holy smokes - another UK lockdown. 2020 IN REVIEW. This year has been tough for us a 2020 IN REVIEW. This year has been tough for us all. On a personal level, I’ve had days where I’ve struggled to get out of bed and be motivated whether I was supposed to be working or not. Days where I didn’t know who my next client was or where my next paycheque was coming from, which was heartbreaking when I’d spent three years building a business only for it to slow down to a complete standstill. Days where I’ve been so low because this new way of living has felt never-ending and soul-destroying. That said, I’ve also been lucky enough to experience some amazing highlights, which have brought unexpected joy to my life in such a challenging time. These include: - Spending the new year with my family in Wellington having just been proposed to on Christmas Day and having just celebrated my Dad’s 60th birthday on NYE
- Travelling around the North Island of New Zealand with my fiancé
- Visiting Perth, Australia for the first time
- Celebrating my 30th birthday with friends and family in Leeds
- Travelling around Ireland with my fiancé
- Visiting Cancun for the second time
- Having a beach elopement and becoming a Mrs in Key West, Florida
- Visiting Miami Beach for the second time (All while adhering to COVID guidelines, of course!) ☺️ Now I’m reflecting during a brief stopover in Wisconsin before heading back to the UK. Sure, there are going to be more tough times to come in 2021. Thanks to this new strain of coronavirus, more restrictions and lockdowns are inevitable. However, if humanity has proved anything so far, it’s that we’re strong, resilient and can overcome anything we put our minds to. The comeback is always greater than the setback. So here’s to a better year ahead, may you continue to find hope in the darkest hour. There is always light at the end of the tunnel if you’re willing to look for it. ♥️ #2020inreview #goodbye2020
JUST MARRIED. 👰‍♀️🤵‍♂️ We just JUST MARRIED. 👰‍♀️🤵‍♂️ We just couldn’t wait, so we eloped! Now Key West will forever have a special place in our hearts, just like Nashville (where we met in 2015) and Wellington (where we got engaged last year). Regardless, home is wherever I’m with you @nathanthuerwachter. Here’s to a lifetime of adventures! (...And celebrating properly once this pandemic is over!) 🥂 #elopementwedding #elopementphotography
