After Boris Johnson confirmed that international travel will soon no longer be illegal in England, many of us are looking forward to the day where we can step foot on a plane again.
(And hear those five magic words: “This is your captain speaking!” Right?)
That said, given the slow and steady pacing of vaccination programs worldwide and every country being vetted extensively before they can appear on the UK government’s green list, it might be a while before we can book our next trip.
The good news is that you can still travel in the meantime, albeit locally and online. In fact, check out these city live streams that won’t compare to the real thing, but allow you to satisfy your inner wanderlust from the comfort of your own home.

1. Paris
First things first, one of the most majestic city live streams I’ve ever seen is from Paris. After all, the capital of France has a number of unique buildings and landmarks that contribute to its distinctive skyline, from the Eiffel Tower to Sacre Couer.
Speaking of the Eiffel Tower, you can actually see it in all its glory through this live webcam that allows you to recap the last 24 hours.
You can also explore the skyline from sunrise to sunset. Spoiler alert: the morning sun isn’t one to be missed!
2. London
Sure, staycations will shortly be allowed so you can actually go and visit The National Gallery. However, if you’re not based in England or you just prefer to stay safe at home for the time being, try The National Gallery Virtual Tour in the capital city instead!
Situated in Trafalgar Square in the City of Westminster, it has a collection of over 2,300 paintings dating from the mid-13th century to 1900.
In other words, you can spend a good evening exploring some of its best paintings without having to sift through crowds of people, from Van Gogh to Rembrandt. (Cup of tea or glass of wine optional.)
3. Moscow
One of the world’s city live streams that you just have to check out is the bustling Rogozhskaya Zastava square in Moscow City Centre.
There are several shopping centres nearby, plus the recently-built Golden Gate multifunctional business centre. The overview pans from the 1163rd quarter of Tagansky District along Enthusiasts’ Road — and it’s simply stunning!
4. Singapore
Singapore is fast becoming one of Asia’s go-to destinations. It combines Western-style development with Eastern-style calm to create a modern metropolis of safety and efficiency.

5. Rome
Rome should be a city that’s on everyone’s bucket list. As well as incredible food, there’s awe-inspiring architecture and landmarks such as the Trevi Fountain and Colosseum.
Speaking of, the Trevi Fountain is one of the most famous fountains globally that you can visit via this live stream. You can also check out the ruins of the gladiator gymnasium here.
Why not rustle up some pasta for dinner and get into the Italian spirit while you eat it in front of your computer?
6. Berlin
Another capital city that’s not to be missed is Berlin — and, more specifically, the impressive Brandenburg Gate.
If you can’t head there anytime soon, this live stream will come to the rescue. The camera swings across Luisenplatz over the fountain onto the Brandenburg Gate.
Can you spot the 18 castles and four parks that reside in Brandenburg? Maybe not, but this is precisely the reason to travel there once lockdowns have lifted.
7. Prague
The capital of the Czech Republic is renowned for its well-preserved castles, medieval squares and Baroque and Gothic cathedrals. In fact, Prague’s culture is enough to make anybody do the heart-eyed emoji.
Never been? Not to worry — this live camera has a view over the Astronomical Clock, the Old Town Square and the Church of Our Lady before Tyn.
Personally, I can’t get enough of Prague’s quirky buildings, Romanesque architecture and gothic style.
8. Madrid
Madrid is a charming place pretty close to home with great energy.
If you’re eager to explore the capital of Spain, you have two city live streams to choose from.
You can find breathtaking panoramic views of the main square here. Alternatively, you can check out more of the city with this spectacular view of Madrid’s most famous tourist area. Win-win.
9. Bangkok
The capital of Thailand is famous for its vibrant street life, nifty tuk-tuks and yummy street food. The fact that the city welcomes more visitors than any other city globally means that it’s well worth a visit, whether in real life or virtually.
This link will allow you to watch the beautiful Bangkok skyline from afar in complete tranquillity. However, being amongst the action-packed streets is quite a different story!
10. Hong Kong
Lastly, Hong Kong is a glamorous, lively city with an abundance of choices for luxury shopping. However, it’s so much more than this — the city is also steeped in history and culture.
The magnificent skyline views of Victoria Harbour where skyscrapers meet rustic temples is a wonder to behold even from your living room. Watch it here and prepare to be amazed.
