AW20 Loungewear Outfit Ideas That Are Cute Yet Cosy

We’re less than four weeks into lockdown 3.0 and between the dark nights and cold days, it already feels like it’s been months.

With relaxing at home being our main plans for the foreseeable future, there has never been a better time to invest in some stylish loungewear.

The best thing about loungewear? From cosy-chic co-ords to mix-and-match sets you can pair with your favourite casual leggings, it can blend effortlessly into your existing wardrobe.

An absolute essential for Autumn/Winter 2020, here are some loungewear outfit ideas we’re loving.

1. Knitted Co-Ord

Firstly, one of our favourite loungewear outfit ideas is the knitted co-ord.

These super soft co-ords have been everywhere on social media. In fact, knitted loungewear is the perfect choice to keep you warm and snug whether you are working from home or popping out for some essentials.

From ribbed knit lounge pants to relaxed hoodies and sweatshirts, there is something to suit every style and budget. Try natural, earthy tones for a look that is stylish and relaxed.

2. Sweatshirt and Jogging Bottoms

If you’re looking for the ideal WFH outfit, look no further than the classic combination of a relaxed sweatshirt and jogging bottoms.

With so many sweatshirt and jogger combinations to choose from, we recommend sticking to one colour for a more polished outfit.

To elevate your look, match it with your favourite chunky trainers and puffer jacket.

3. High-Waisted Oversized Joggers

If you only make one loungewear purchase this month, make it a good pair of oversized joggers.

Think oversized high waisted joggers made from soft cotton and cuffed at the ankle. Both practical and fashionable, they are ideal for just about anything lockdown-life can throw at you.

Team with a cropped sweater and your favourite trainers for effortless low-key style.

4. Cashmere Loungewear

If you’re looking for some more luxurious loungewear outfit ideas, you can’t go wrong with a comfy cashmere set.

The best thing about cashmere — aside from how soft it is — is that it is actually really versatile. You can either opt for a head-to-toe cashmere co-ord, or you can choose to style the top and bottoms separately, mixing and matching them with items you already have in your winter wardrobe.

While we absolutely encourage you to treat yourself, a cashmere set would also be a great gift idea if you want to treat someone to high-quality loungewear that will last them for many winters to come.

5. Velour Tracksuits

Love it or hate it, the last few months of 2020 saw velour tracksuits make a triumphant return.

From Kim Kardashian-West’s SKIMS velour tracksuits to Dua Lipa’s bold lime green co-ord, lockdown has provided the perfect environment for a mid-Noughties renaissance.

For a real throwback, style your velour tracksuit with a pair of UGG boots. On the other hand, if you’re looking for something a little more subtle, try a darker toned tracksuit paired with trainers and a parka jacket for the perfect chic but chill outfit.

6.  Tie-Dye

Tie-dye is another nostalgic trend that came back in a big way in 2020.

It’s not expected to disappear any time soon, so why not jump on the trend and inject a bit of colour into your loungewear.

Either commit to full tie-dye, or try breaking the bold prints up by incorporating some more casual pieces and accessories. Gold accessories and hats will be your friends when it comes to dressing up your outfit.

We’re loving pastel colours and dappled patterns for a more up-to-date take on the traditional swirls.

7. Three-Piece Loungewear

If you’re after something one step up from a knitted co-ord, a three-piece loungewear set is the one for you.

From a quick scroll through social media, it feels like every celebrity’s lockdown wardrobe features an enviably soft three piece.

The best thing about a three piece is having the ability to dress up or dress down your outfit easily by adding or removing layers, allowing you to go from Netflix binge to Zoom call in under ten seconds!

 8. Athflow

According to Pinterest predictions, we’re going to be seeing a lot more of ‘athflow’ this year, as we slowly return to real life again.

In other words, athflow is what we’ll be wearing as we start to venture outside, but aren’t quite ready to go back to our pre-pandemic tight jeans and heels.

It is defined as anything “professional enough for the office, stretchy enough for the yoga mat and comfy enough for the sofa.”

Think wide-legged flowy trousers, casual jumpsuits and oversized outfits.

9. Longline Cardigan

Finally, consider adding a longline cardigan to your wardrobe to instantly enhance any loungewear look.

The laid-back fit creates a flattering silhouette, and can be worn over anything, from laidback jeans and flats for your daily walk to a knitted co-ord for the ultimate at-home chill day.

Whether you prefer cashmere or wool, neutrals or classic black, these simple but sophisticated pieces are the perfect addition to your WFH wardrobe.

Loungewear Outfit Ideas to Fall in Love With

Loungewear had a serious glow-up in 2020, and there are now so many options for stylish outfits which are cute but cosy.

It’s important to find the loungewear that is right for you. At a time when everything is so uncertain, it is essential that we find comfort from something, even if that something is an especially warm and fluffy cardigan.

Personally, I’ve been making the most of the chance to live my best comfy life in oversized sweatshirts and high waisted joggers for the last nine months. You have to look for the positives!

Sure, fast fashion is affordable and enticing, but not exactly environmentally-friendly (or often ethical). Instead, I champion sustainable style! Why? Well: - It’s better quality
- It’s kind to the planet
- It saves money
- It saves packing space when you’re going on a trip 🧳💪🏻 Read more about how you can be more sustainable with fashion in 2021 by visiting www.trendytourist.co.uk (link in bio). 💕 P.S. Doesn’t Christmas feel like it was ages ago?! #sustainablestyle #sustainableclothing
WEDDING DETAILS. 💁🏼‍♀️ Haven’t got WEDDING DETAILS. 💁🏼‍♀️ Haven’t got all the photos back yet but our ceremony photographer @julia_roy_photos was kind enough to send through a sneak-peek! 😄 The whole look I was going for was “romantic elegance” with some boho touches to tie in with the beach setting. Hence, the beautiful flowers with blush pink accents and soft ivory draping that juxtaposed the rustic textures of the bamboo arbour, aisle lanterns and co-ordinating seashells. Thank you @bigdaykw for helping bring my vision to life! What do you think? I’ll share hair and makeup details next. 👰‍♀️ (Disclaimer: not an ad, just grateful!)

2020 IN REVIEW. This year has been tough for us a 2020 IN REVIEW. This year has been tough for us all. On a personal level, I’ve had days where I’ve struggled to get out of bed and be motivated whether I was supposed to be working or not. Days where I didn’t know who my next client was or where my next paycheque was coming from, which was heartbreaking when I’d spent three years building a business only for it to slow down to a complete standstill. Days where I’ve been so low because this new way of living has felt never-ending and soul-destroying. That said, I’ve also been lucky enough to experience some amazing highlights, which have brought unexpected joy to my life in such a challenging time. These include: - Spending the new year with my family in Wellington having just been proposed to on Christmas Day and having just celebrated my Dad’s 60th birthday on NYE
- Travelling around the North Island of New Zealand with my fiancé
- Visiting Perth, Australia for the first time
- Celebrating my 30th birthday with friends and family in Leeds
- Travelling around Ireland with my fiancé
- Visiting Cancun for the second time
- Having a beach elopement and becoming a Mrs in Key West, Florida
- Visiting Miami Beach for the second time (All while adhering to COVID guidelines, of course!) ☺️ Now I’m reflecting during a brief stopover in Wisconsin before heading back to the UK. Sure, there are going to be more tough times to come in 2021. Thanks to this new strain of coronavirus, more restrictions and lockdowns are inevitable. However, if humanity has proved anything so far, it’s that we’re strong, resilient and can overcome anything we put our minds to. The comeback is always greater than the setback. So here’s to a better year ahead, may you continue to find hope in the darkest hour. There is always light at the end of the tunnel if you’re willing to look for it. ♥️ #2020inreview #goodbye2020
JUST MARRIED. 👰‍♀️🤵‍♂️ We just JUST MARRIED. 👰‍♀️🤵‍♂️ We just couldn’t wait, so we eloped! Now Key West will forever have a special place in our hearts, just like Nashville (where we met in 2015) and Wellington (where we got engaged last year). Regardless, home is wherever I’m with you @nathanthuerwachter. Here’s to a lifetime of adventures! (...And celebrating properly once this pandemic is over!) 🥂 #elopementwedding #elopementphotography
