Spoiler alert: this season’s key knitwear pieces are coming in hot.
Even though the weather hasn’t completely turned yet (hi, 21 degrees last week) and we’re kind of still in the transitional period, we’re already in the process of stocking up our autumn/winter wardrobes.
After all, it’s never too early, right?
If you’ve got no idea when it comes to which knits to invest in this season —not to worry, we’ve got you covered. Read on for the AW18 knitwear trends that are pretty yet practical.

Cream of the Crops
Firstly, the cropped hem aesthetic that was all the rage through Spring/Summer is sticking around for AW19. (You know, the one that makes you look like you’re wearing a top that’s shrunk astronomically in the washing machine?)
We know it’s not a style that everyone likes, but we have to admit, we’re a fan. Especially in cropped knit form.
Why? Well, regardless of the hue or pattern, cropped jumpers look super cute with high-waisted jeans and flats or a fun skirt and block heeled boots.
For instance, we’re currently in love with this Black Cable Knit Cropped Jumper from the Femme Luxe knitwear collection that we can dress up or down, depending on the occasion. It looks especially great with a touch of leopard print through a belt, shoe, or hair accessory.
Now, that’s a combination we can all get on board with.

Pretty Pearls
One of our fave AW18 knitwear trends of the moment, pearl embellishments are an ideal smart-casual knit option.
Why? Well, they add instant glam to your aesthetic. And they’re perfect for the Christmas party season when paired with a black leather skirt or high-waisted leggings.
We realise it’s not Christmas yet (hurry up, December). Even so, we like to wear this festive beauty with jeans, Vans and lazy-girl hair for everyday errands.
Either way, you can’t deny the versatility of a pearl knitted jumper!

Cold Shoulder Delight
Another Spring/Summer style feature that’s making its way through to autumn, cold shoulder knits are just as flirty as they are feminine.
Designed to be worn effortlessly slouched off the shoulder, they certainly put the “cold” element into their name for the Autumn/Winter period. (Hence, why you need to get your wear out of this knit style before the freezing cold temperatures arrive!)
We’re crushing on the tunic-length cold shoulder knits because their long hem lines are considerably warmer than the cropped alternatives. In fact, this white cold shoulder jumper also has button-front detailing, which makes it a win-win in terms of AW18 fashion trends.

Stripes Ahoy
Finally, one of the best AW18 knitwear trends (in our humble opinion) is stripes.
A continuation from the ever-popular stripes of last season, the only difference between SS18 and AW18 stripes is the fabric used to create them.
Stripes have also been given a bit of a revamp in terms of colour. Just check out the below bardot knitted jumper in a mesmerising mustard hue.
This means it’s time to say goodbye to pastels and hello to the darker, richer tones of autumn. Bring them on!

Rocking AW18 Knitwear Trends
All in all, there are several AW18 knitwear trends that are slowly filtering their way onto the high street. That said, cropped hems, pearl embellishments, cold shoulder detailing and stripes are our current favourites.
